In the late 90’s Jeff Foster, Scott Fisher, and Jeff Sweat met while working in separate communities under a national brokerage firm.
Jeff Foster started in Seymour, Scott in North Knoxville, and Jeff Sweat in Jacksboro. If you’ve ever talked with them about their career, you know their favorite part of what they do is having the opportunity to work with individuals, and families of all backgrounds. The three, along with their dedicated office administrators (Lisa Wyrick, Allyson Phillips, and Brenda Shepherd), spent almost 10 years building their business and had a positive impact on the people of their community. Through their shared employer, they got to know each other and began spending their free time together. The three all had the same vision of forming a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) and opening their own practices.
“A Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) is a firm engaged in the investment advisory business and registered either with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) or state securities authorities. RIAs … have a fundamental obligation to provide suitable investment advice and always act in their clients’ best interests.” -Investopedia.com
In 2006, Jeff, Scott, and Jeff made their dreams a reality
In unison, they left the national brokerage firm and walked straight into a new, empty office filled only with opportunity! “It was a very scary moment walking out the door, but we knew this was what we wanted for our future clients,” Lisa Wyrick remembers.
A year later, the group was blessed to retain the majority of their clients. “When we made the switch, we were hoping our clients could tell how much we valued the relationship we had built with them – With us, it’s about more than just money.” – Jeff Foster
The six worked separately using their own brand names for the next few years; Foster Investment and Retirement Services, Fisher Financial, and Jeff Sweat Investments.
In 2011, the six officially came together as TVAMP
After becoming independent, Jeff Foster, Scott Fisher, and Jeff Sweat kept gathering regularly to discuss best practices. They decided a merge could be the key to more efficient operation! A two-person office had worked in the past, but the group saw several pitfalls within this model. Jeff, Scott, and Jeff wanted to create a more secure future for their clients and their business! They knew they could accomplish much more with a team-based approach!
Not long after the merge, they rebranded their marketing materials and website, implementing the new TVAMP logo! “We wanted to go about our change gradually because we didn’t want any confusion. It was fun coming together and learning from each other.” said Brenda Shepherd.
In 2015, TVAMP opened a centralized location in West Knoxville so the advisors and administrative team could work together! “We did this to create synergy, to increase efficiency, and form a real company culture… before, if one of us was out, things had to be put on hold – now anyone on the support team would be happy to help you! Ultimately, we want our clients to be cared for if anything ever happens to us.” At the end of 2015, we began recruiting advisors to join TVAMP. We also began utilizing UT Knoxville’s career services to hire interns – from financial advising interns, to marketing and communications. As a stronger team, we were able to begin hosting regular client appreciation and educational workshops.
In 2016, TVAMP and Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union entered a working agreement in efforts grow their comprehensive wealth management services; improving the overall member experience.
And in the spring of 2017, TVAMP introduced wealth management services to Sevier County Bank customers.
