Thomas is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and Enrolled Agent for the IRS. In 2023, he founded his own firm, Retire to Tellico, to serve the growing number of retirees in the region. In 2024, he was recognized by InvestmentNews as one of the top wealth advisors under age 40 in the nation (methodology here). On his YouTube channel, Refine Your Plan, he has produced more than 60 educational videos, reached over 6,000 subscribers, and generated more than 380,000 views.
Thomas began serving as a lecturer of personal finance at the University of Tennessee’s Haslam College of Business in the fall of 2023. This year, he will join the university full-time to help design and lead its new CFP® program.
Thomas says, “Helping others eliminate their financial stress is my calling in life. I’ve found education to be the most effective tool in helping others spend more on memories and less on taxes. ” His goal is to positively impact as many as possible through financial education, whether it’s guiding retirees through complex financial decisions or preparing the next generation of financial planners to serve people well.
