“None of this could be possible without volunteers…”

We hosted a Lunch & Learn on Tuesday May 8th on the topic of “Strategies for Giving.”

About 30 people gathered for lunch at Naples Italian Restaurant to learn how they can leverage charitable donations to non-profit organizations as well as discover ways to give their time to many of the agencies and organizations that help the needy and less fortunate of our community.

Guest speakers for the event included Zach Gosselin of the Tennessee Brokerage Agency who discussed leveraging your cash contributions to charity.

Other speakers represented some of the many groups and agencies that TVAMP has taken under their wing with monetary and volunteer efforts.

  • We heard from Patrick Riggins of the Love Kitchen, who provides thousands of meals per week to people who might otherwise not have anything to eat.
  • Tony Earl from Angelic Ministries talked of how his group provides clothing and basic life necessities to people in need in our area.
  • Steve Hodges, of the KiMe Fund, told us of his battle with Parkinson’s, and his efforts to raise money for Parkinson’s research in an endeavoring to wipe out Parkinson’s in his children’s lifetime.
  • John Winters, of Fellowship Church, shared how their Outreach and Global Ministry puts thousands of Bibles in the hands of children in countries around the world. Afterward, John mentioned that in California, where he is from, you would never see such an event as this.

The event was wildly successful, and comments from attendees were very positive.

A great deal of information changed hands, and it was very encouraging to see the amount of charitable work taking place all around us. A common thread through the messages is how none of the work can get done without volunteers.
