Unplanned Conditions
It’s safe to say this hasn’t been the year that any of us planned on, that being said I believe that our character is tested the most when faced with adverse conditions. That reminds me of a fly fishing trip that I took in April of this year.
Sunny Skies and Sleet
A good friend of mine and I booked the trip back in January for the weekend of April 9th. Our expectation was sunny skies and warm weather. Our reality was sleet and temperatures in the 30s to low 40s.
We met our guide, Josh, that morning at 10 AM. As we drove out there I told my friend regardless of the conditions we were going to have a good time, laugh, and catch some fish. We were lucky that Josh shared this disposition. The day started off quick, I caught one of the largest fish I ever have in my amateur angling career. My friend Brent caught his first trout ever and has been hooked (no pun intended since). We ended up catching 20 that day, had a boat full of laughs, and will always have a story tell.
One of our partners at TVAMP always says that it’s not what you do in life, it’s who you do it with. I can confirm this is true from my own experience. I would take the company I had in bad conditions than poor company with good temperatures and sunshine.
