We always like to say, “Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.” -Henry David Thoreau
Last week we held our “Building Wealth 101” workshop at Vienna Coffee House in the Old Regas building.
Our guest speaker, Cameron Cowden, brought an insightful presentation to the table. First, we defined wealth. To us, being wealthy is much different than being rich… As Chris Rock put it, “Wealth is empowering… Wealth can uplift communities… Wealth is passed down from generation to generation… Rich you can lose with a crazy summer.”
Cameron’s presentation took us on a journey through money: talking about it, accumulating it, spending it, saving it, investing it, protecting it and preserving it.
Sure, a projector and a slideshow might bring back a few nightmares of those tiresome college presentations, but this one was totally worth it! Our attendees had a lot of great questions.
“How do I automate my investments?”
“What do I do if my company doesn’t offer a 401(k)?”
“What are some tax advantaged plans I can use to fund my future or my children’s’?”
